Jane Heng Jewellery Product Care & Cleaning Instructions

The majority of Jane Heng Jewellery is created using precious 14k gold and semi-precious gemstones. While these materials are durable enough to wear everyday, pieces will last longer and continue to look it's best if it is looked after well.  Please read the below tips on how to best maintain your Jane Heng Jewellery piece:

- Protect your jewellery from scratches, sharp blows, chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight.

- Remove your jewels when doing household tasks such as gardening, cleaning

- Apply make-up and hair spray before putting your jewellery on, as make-up and hair spray contain chemicals that may damage jewellery

- Do not wear your jewellery while in a pool, the sea, bathing. Salt water, chlorine in swimming pools, soap, perfumes, personal products, including toothpaste plus perspiration take their toll on jeweller

- Do not leave your jewellery on the bathroom or kitchen bench as the jewellery is at risk of sitting in water

- Do not store your jewels next to heating vents, window sills or in the car

Cleaning

To clean Jane Heng Jewellery please use warm water containing a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid and rub gently with your fingers or a cotton swab.

  1. You can clean gold jewellery with a soft toothbrush and some soapy water (dishwashing liquid works fine for this)
  2. Dip the toothbrush in the water and use it to get into all of the crevices. Be gentle as you do not want to scratch the metal and gemstones.
  3. Rinse the piece in warm water until the water runs clear.
  4. Buff your piece dry with a soft, lint-free cloth to make it shine after jewellery cleaning. Avoid using paper products such as tissues because they contain particles of wood that can scratch the gold's surface.
  5. Before storing, let the gold jewellery lie flat and air dry completely. Moisture speeds the tarnishing process so it's important to make sure your jewellery is dry before putting it away.
  6. Store your Jane Heng pieces in a cool and dry place. Store individually if possible to ensure they do not scratch other items.
  7. If you prefer, you can also use a non-abrasive jewellery cleaner that you can buy at the store. If your gold jewellery contains gemstones, check to make sure that the cleaner is safe to use with them.
